Yesterday Faith made a huge milestone - she took food with a spoon! I have practiced with her on this before, but this was the first time she really did it on her own. I have been afraid to let her make a huge mess, but I think we are now both ready.
That's the way it has been from the beginning. I can usually tell what she can handle and she has always met the challenges with flying colors. I didn't let her eat cheerios for quite a long time, now she eats them easily! Today, for the first time, I let her have a pretzel. I thought they were too tough to eat, but she did great! (honey wheat kind)
Not too long ago Faith went to see the geneticist. Faith's cognitive and motor scores were excellent! To be honest, anything Faith does is great in my book, but this is a testament to what God showed me from the beginning, that she would be a bumble bee accomplishing more than expected.
Some milestones met: walking, saying some words, recognizes pictures (especially cats!), knows animal sounds for cat and cow, eating table food on her own (mostly), harder sippy cup, takes turns, brings stuff when asked (usually), understands "no" and redirects herself to avoid negative consequences (I put her in play pen for a few minutes if she gets into things like the dog dish), and much more!
So, Faith has more than impressed us with her abilities and her milestones. We are blessed that she is in our lives. I am not sure why God has chosen to make her like a bumble bee -- maybe to touch someone's heart who might be considering aborting a precious soul with Down syndrome. God has a purpose for each and every one of us and who are we to decide whose life is more valuable? My life is of a much higher quality with Faith.
Lord, You showed me early on that Faith would accomplish much more than expected and that is a marvelous thing. Even so, I am blessed with anything she does and pray that others will be blessed by her sweet spirit and joy. Please be with her as she goes at her own unique pace and help me to know how to help her accomplish whatever You have in mind for her life.

Born in our Hearts
This is my first Faith Blog.
In a few months it will be 2 years that we first heard about Faith. As soon as we knew that she was real, we were in love! We prayed for her as if she were ours already. I remember crying and praying for her earnestly before she was even born.
Yes, she was ours even then, a baby born, not physically from us, yet in our hearts. If you look back at the pictures of us with her in those first moments of seeing her, you can just see the love on our faces.
Here are some promises from God about Faith:
She would bring joy to our home
She would be a Bumble Bee (a surprise with all that she would do)
She would teach us and others about faith in God
She has done all that and more!
Thank you, Lord for this little bundle you sent our way. Help us to be good stewards of her mind, spirit, character.
